Home alone......

"Money doesn't grow on trees you know Hamish".

What sort of a statement is that? Of course I know money doesn't grow on trees. It grows in those little machines you find in walls in the city centre.

So what's that got to do with me having to stay at home alone all day, just when I've got used to having Gail here almost all the time? She's suddenly taken to disappearing shortly after my morning walk, and not returning until well after tea time.

So that's me, home alone all day. Well, a neighbour has been calling round in the afternoon to take me out for a short walk. And at least I can get out into the back garden through the dog flap, and carefully patrol the boundaries, or roll on the grass. Maybe do a bit of excavating too. Or, inside the house, I can position myself on the top of the sofa to look out the front window and keep an eye on what's going on in the street. Bark a little at passers by. And then again, an old chap does need a fair bit of sleep.

But even so. I would like some company. If only I could use the computer without Gail's help, then I could communicate with my blogging pals. Has anyone designed a paw-friendly keyboard yet, I wonder? A bit like those phones you can get for old folk?

I guess I'm going to have to get used to this new regime, at least for a while. Something to do with Gail being able to pay for dog food and vets bills apparently!

Hey Hamish
Yep, we understand the money thing! Gone are the days that we could simply go out hunting for our food. Have you heard the saying "Cash Strapped?" Now that's a good one...we'd love to see mom strapped in cash. Be patient with Gail- she's doing her best for you, mate.

You may not like being home all day, but you have reasoned out all the good parts, the back yard, the neighbor to visit, the view from the front, you can even nap on the stairs without worrying about someone falling over you!
Gail probably likes having a job too. I think you have a pretty good time of it, Hamish. You'll get used to it, I bet!

I am looking forward to the wedding too, I'm not usually a social dog, but to meet you, and the Dughallmors will be more than fun, (especially the you part!)

Kisses,
Stella

Oh poor Hamish
Yes we also have had to get used to part of the day being home alone!
Apparently the machine in the wall will run out of money if this doesn't happen.
We have tried everything, mostly sulking, but nothing works they still go.
We finally settled on the TV being left on - that way we get to enjoy the morning programmes - we particularly like the makeovers! Well what with Rosie & Petey's wedding coming up there are things to organise.
By mid day one of them turns up and that is our period of being on our own at an end.
Perhaps you should come over here and we can watch TV together - and share a wee dram of which we know you are so fond.
We could enjoy a good woof together and enjoy the company.
love and kisses

oh that stupid work thing. I think peoples should get a grant for looking after us doggies, like they do for childrens.

Still it does be nice having some sleepy time to yourself. Then when she be home you will be wide awake to play and stuffs.

OH NO! Home alone! Yikes...when I have to go off to work and leave my two home alone, someone usually voices her displeasure by destroying paper products, both in the trash can and anywhere else she can clamp her wee scottie jaws. The other someone might leave a 'pressie' in the front hall, right where you'll see it (or step in it if you don't) when you come in the door. We can't let them roam about in the back yard, their were several digging under the fence escapes that caused alarm in the neighborhood. Hang tough Hamish, and do the sad face when she gets home so you'll get lots of cuddles and snuggies, belly rubs and walkies!

Oh Hamish.
We are in the same boat as you. Our people leave us during the day to go to that thing called "work". We hear the same excuses all the time too. At least you are able to go out into your back yard at will. Lucky dog!

Lots of treats,

Hamish. We have a feeling we're gonna be faced with the same predicament in a few weeks. We've been really spoiled here recently. Not just Moma and our Girl have been home, but we've had Gramma and the other dogs, too. We're hearing that things are gonna change later this summer. Hmmm.... Moma has set up the computer on Skype, and we've had our Auntie spy on us. Maybe that is a possibility. We'll have to figure out the time difference, though.

Think about it,
